Western Digital External HD Problem

Okay right everything was going okay the HD was working fine until a few days ago where I took the cable with the pins on it a bit too hard and put it back in and it said found usb device then it asked me to install the drivers I selected reccomended and it tried to find the drivers but it fails. Usually it just does it by its self in 5 seconds tops.

The pin connector for my WD has 2 little pins inside sticking out but 3 of the little holes don't have any pins coming out, maybe I broke it when I put it in? But then why is the HD still powering up etc..

My HD used to make a little noise when connected but now it doesn't make any noise but the lights are still on.

I have tried it at my mates + tried different usb/power plugs.

What should I do guys? Any ideas? Thanks.

remove the drive from the enclosure and buy another enclosure to put it in.

Are you sure that's the problem though? What if I get the same model and use the new ac adapter/usb 2.0 cable etc?
