How much of a performance hit with single channel?

This week I replaced my AMD X2 5000+ be with an X3 8750 be. The new tripple core is a good overclocker, able to get it from the stock 2.4 ghz to 3.0 with modest voltage bump and reasonable temps. However, I can't get my memory to work in dual channel mode since installing the X3. My question is, how much of a performance hit am I taking by being restricted to single channel mode? I'm considering RMAing the X3 back to NewEgg and putting the X2 back in.

About 5% in real-world, but a significant hit in synthetic benchmarks.
No reason why anyone should have to put up with single-channel RAM
these days though.
