i believe this means it launched in service mode but i dont know how to change can some one help

Launch directory: C:\Documents and Settings\sam\Desktop\Folding@home
Service: C:\Documents and Settings\sam\Desktop\Folding@home\[email protected]
Arguments: -svcstart -d C:\Documents and Settings\sam\Desktop\Folding@home

Launched as a service.
Entered C:\Documents and Settings\sam\Desktop\Folding@home to do work.

Start, run, services.msc, browse to the FAH service and stop the service. If you don't want to run it as a service go ahead and disable the service. Then drag [email protected] to the desktop and create a shortcut adding the -configonly flag after the last quote in the target line. Going through the configuration, answer yes to the remove the service question. Otherwise configure the client as desired. THe client will close after the last question. Remove the -configonly flag from the shortcut, then run the shortcut and you should be folding.

i entered -configonly after the last quote in the target line and it tells my the file path is not valid

after i stop it in services

This is the log file for after i ran the config I still dont think its working right

I presume it's running in the console window. Looks OK. Perhaps, I should be asking what do you intend to do? It appears to me you have the uniprocessor console client running correctly.

yes im also running the client on another computer and that one gives my a progress report like this

but this one doesnt

It's starting to:

[03:34:44] Writing local files
[03:36:10] Completed 8728 out of 1500000 steps (1%)
[03:36:10] Extra SSE boost OK.

The next thing the client will write is the checkpoint or 2%.

If it sticks there you may have a problem. What cpu is in the machine?

p3 866mhz pretty slow i know

i have a gigabyte mother moard on the way with a 1 ghz cpu on the way that i will bee putting in this case and ill finnaly be able to over clock

also its still in the same postion

[03:34:44] Writing local files
[03:36:10] Completed 8728 out of 1500000 steps (1%)
[03:36:10] Extra SSE boost OK.

I don't remember if that client writes the checkpoints without having the -verbosity 9 flag added. It is going to take a pretty long time to process that WU. THe 866 MHz P3 produces about 38 ppd so it's going to take about 6 days to do a 225 point WU or 1.44 hours per %. It could go a little faster if p4457 happens to be a bonus WU.

There are a number of different clients. Many have the same number, but yes, there are a a lot of different clients. Windows UNICPU, Linux Unified Client, WIN SMP, ATi GPU, nVidia GPU, beta clients of the preceding.

ok well ill be running a p3 1ghz on a gigabyte ga6oxe mobo with a ati saphire x1650 graphics card any suggestions on the client choice and setup?

The ATI card is not capable of running the ATI GPU client... you should stick with the configuration you have already.

btw- :welcome: to Team 32! New guy stocks the fridge. :)

the client is runing but as you said its slow i add the -verbosity 9 flag and it gives me the progess
