with an overclocked core 216 GTX 260 , it will beat a 4870.

2 295's will beat 2 4870 X2's with high res. well from my experiences

and the 3 gtx 280's i had beat 4870X2 CrossfireX

this prolly needs to be in general gpu but ive had both 4870x2 and gtx 295 both are real good cards and are about the same but the 295 is a little better

I believe it goes

295
4870x2
285
280
4870
260
4850

Although it the order can change in certain situations and ATI has goten much better at high res gaming so they do jump ahead of their immediate competition in some areas.

260 and 4870 actually will swap places alot for instance, depending in the review you read.

GTX 295
4870 X2
GTX 285
4850 X2
GTX280
9800 GX2
4870
3870 X2
GTX 260
4850
9800 GTX+
8800 GTX
9800 GTX
8800 GTS
4830
8800 GT
9800 GT

In essence that list is correct but how can you compare the Newest and last gen nvidia cards with all last gen ati cards??? I think we should wait for the 49xx series to come out to pick a new winner in the graphics card war LOL

That is kind of misleading as the 4870/3870x2/gtx260 would be around the same, as will the 8800gt/9800gt, and 4850/9800gtx+. Would be nice to have a graph comparing them all lol

i like ATI cards, its just there drivers suck, if they can get over that hump im sure they could out perform the nvidia line

(come on AMD, get your heads out of your asses)

they've been much better in recent times. if your on a fast comp, the CCC is really not all that slow. if your on a slow comp though..
ive got the same exact 2.4c P4 and intel D875pbz as you got. CRAZY HUH

I remember when i was thinking a GX2 everyone wanted me to get the 260. Psh :)

The GX2 uses a lot more power, produces a lot more heat, can possibly suffer from micro-stutter, and the performance will suffer if more than 512MB of video RAM is needed.

The 260 is the overall better choice IMO even if the GX2 beats it in a few particular circumstances.

+1 to that. The GX2 wins in several (if not most) benchmarks but you have the dual GPU headache, and less VRAM per GPU to worry about.
