Help quick! trying to power Gigabit Switch.

Ok... So here is the deal, I have a D-Link gigabit switch that requires a DC 5v - 3a power input...

Can I use my PSU which has 40a 5v rail? Will it overpower the Switch or will it know to only use 3a?

I'm hosting a lan party and if I can get this switch up it'll make life much easier. I have no idea where the power adapter is, but I do have another power adapter with the right plug (but wrong voltage)

The switch will only draw as much power that is available, your PSU doesnt pump out 40A all the time, just as much as the device asks for, in this case upto 3A.

Do a case mod to mount the switch inside the case and have the ports come out of the back.

Now that would be cool. But I like the flexibility of putting the switch halfway between all the computers.
