hi guys,

Is it true that gamers tend to use windows vista 64, just for the banefit of using full use of the RAM and most of all, Dirext X 10.

but i heard problems like, compatibility problems, driver problems and so on.

why cant windows xp just support directx 10 and full ram.

so any advice? wather i should go for vista or just stick with windows xp?

Software compatibility problems are pretty much limited to older programs
which are no longer being supported by their original manufacturers such
that an update which supports Vista simply isn't available. Problems
discovered in the field in current software titles are usually fixed because
not supporting Vista is not a great feature for a program which a company
might currently be selling.

As for driver problems, if your hardware is somewhat older, you might find
that most or all of your devices are supported with drivers included with
Vista installation. But if not, most motherboard manufacturers have 64-bit
drivers these days, so long as the hardware isn't too old. Any new hardware
released worth anything should come with a 64-bit driver.

Yes, the things you mentioned were problems in the past, no doubt.
But the hardware guys have had time to get caught up, it seems.

Moved to the Microsoft Operating Systems forum. Please post within the correct topics - this thread has nothing to do with Intel CPUs.

The RAM limitation is a limitation of using a 32bit OS. Running a 64bit OS gives a larger addressable memory space.

Other than that, there's nothing wrong with running vista64 if your a gamer and your hardware isn't old.
