LCD shows black screen when going from 2D to 3D in WaW/COD4

It only happens when I launch these two games. I can play GTA IV and Burnout without problems. What happens is when I launch/exit the games, the menu/desktop with flash up for a second and then the screen will go black. My lcd doesn't go into sleep mode, its just like the video card is putting out a black screen to the lcd, though I can't pull up the menu options and see them on the lcd. It used to only happen when I would overclock the cpu, but now it does it all the time. It is the only time this happens. Nothing else I do causes this problem. It doesn't matter what catalyst I have installed either. I can still hear the music in my speakers and can hear the noise from my mouse pointer scrolling over a option in the menu. Also, if I turn the screen off for a while (30 sec or more) it will fix the issue at that time. If I try to go back into the game or leave the game to go back to the desktop, it will happen again. I've reinstalled the games a number of times. I'm just at a loss for what it could be.

Anyone have any idea? This is with the system in my sig.

Doesn't matter if it is different or the same.

Meaning that you've tried adjusting the resolution for each to match?

I always run my desktop at 1920x1200. That is native. I've played WaW at that and now at 1680x1050, to help pickup frame rate. I've done a lot more resolutions on COD4, but the results are always the same. The desktop never changes.

Ops, forgot, XP SP3

Lets see I've tried just 1920x1200 @ 60hz, 1680x1050 @ 60hz & 75hz, 1600x1200 @ 60hz, etc. It just doesn't matter the resolution that is chosen in game, the result is the same. I've never gone outside of the supported resolutions or supported refresh at supported resolutions.

Forgot to mention that I can play the Cyrsis SP Demo with no problems.

Reinstall it? I found that game had some annoying bugs/glitches on the startup, such as looking for servers etc so maybe that will help?
