Hey Guys..

I just built my desktop but have been noticing that it is running hotter than I expected. I had a AMD 3500+ 2.2 Ghz before this and it ran at around 40 degrees core temperature.

My current configuration:
Intel x6800 2.93 Ghz
ASUS P5E3 Deluxe Motherboard
2 GB DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA 8800GT
2 Hard Drives
2 DVD Drives

At idle my computer runs at around 54 degrees (measured using Core Temp) core temperature. At full CPU load the core temperature is steady at 64 - 65 degrees for the past hour. Is the idle temp too high? What should I check for?

Thanks

First thing to take a look at is the HSF. Make sure it is properly seated on the cpu.

Everything seems to be good interms of seating..It is the stock heatsink. Any idea what the idle temperature should be around?

thanks!

if that x6800 is one of the old conroes, then shes gonna be a cooker for sure.. i wouldnt worry about it, the old skool ones ran hot :)
