Modding my shuttle [mostly cooling]

Hello,
I own a shuttle sg31g2, I love it, but the damn thing produce alot of heat.
My first mod to reduce the heat was to switch the southbridge's heatsink for a bigger own. It works well. I'm also currently looking for a bigger northbridge heatsink as well, but haven't found any at a good price.

My 2nd mod I want to do, is put a 80 or 120mm fan on top of the case. I've never did such things before, and I'm scared to screw up my case cover. I'm only 18, and don't have much skills/experience working with tools. Sure I've done many courses at high school, and I have a small idea on how to do it. I could ask my dad, but let's say, for some personal reasons, it's not the best idea...

Paying someone to do it, that was one of my ideas, but would that cost alot and worth it? Considering I live in Canada and shipping cost alot (granted, I only have to ship the cover, but...)

Also, I was considering switching the CPU cooler inside. I used to own a Zalman CNPS 9500, witch I ended up selling because when I moved from my big case to my shuttle, it did not fit.

As this pc is mostly 24/7 on, I'm looking to have it as silent as possible, and as 'light-less' as possible. The front panel leds are REALLY bright, black tape work well, but doesn't look so good, using resistor was my idea, but could it have some side effects? does it really worth it?

See if you can find a template for the size fan you want to use and trace it over the existing fan location. Use a dremel to carefully cut it out - if you take your time you can do a good job.

A resistor will work and it'll just create heat as it does its thing. I'd say it's worth doing but make sure you do some research before you just start buying resistors.
