I bought this Zalman HTPC case 2 months ago just because of its irresistable beauty......and had a great deal for it. A week ago I had a chance to grab a combo $159 at Fry's E8500 E0 retail box + Bio Star mobo (didn't use mobo) and began building with mixed old and new parts.

This could be a HTPC or a real Desk Top computer...since I overclock it as well.

E8500 E0 Fry's Retail Box

Empty New HTPC Case ... 99% made of Aluminum.

Frontal Area

Installed DVD+/- drive and Multi-Flash Media Reader

Wi-fi draft N – 300Mbps and Creative AUDIGY 2 ZS

My old 7300GT graphic card.....fan removed due to too much noise

Seagate 640GB with 32MB cache ver. 7200.11

My spare Gigabyte P35-DS3R with Cooler Master GeminII S

Ready to rumble with 4GB GSkill PC6400 Black...not bad at 912MHz

To make it nice a quiet, all fans are mod to runs at 5 or 7v

Later replacement of stock Cooler Master's fan with an Artic Cooler for quieter

Milk jug mod for direct intake fresh air into the CPU

A bluetooth keyboard would cures problem with wireless if used as an HTPC

Frontal VFD messages

Alright, I had this tested with PC8500 and ran at 4.41GHz......

..but I thought was a waste. So, replaced with PC6400 and finalized at 4.33GHz

1 hour OCCT Mix

Intel Burn-in Test #1 with 10 loops

I though it would be fun and always run this Intelli-Scan against my other machines.......and this one racked up the fastest and quietest rig.

BIOS VCORE = 1.43125v
yes....I got a stuck temp sensor

huh..we have a VERY similar setup..

i just got mine yesterday..but for some reason(me being tired, im sure) i didnt think to losen the timings to hit 4.3...gonna go try that now

Don't give up......as I see what you're doing from your thread.
Try it again 555-15 @ 2.1v OK.......that's how I got to 912MHz for this PC6400 ram.

You have a better board than mine....I'm sure there are a few adjustments need to be made in your bios to go further and stable.

Try
Enable LLC
raise your NB (MCH)
raise Vcore if needed
Disable: DRAM static Read Control
Disable: DRAM read training
Disable: Ai Clock Twister
keep Memory OC Charger at: STANDARD
keep PLL Voltage around 1.5 or maybe 1.6

Just removed this E8500 out of this HTPC case and replaced with an E8200.

But this time with the interest of lower heat, voltage, quietness, lower speed with higher FSB with its best performance.
I'm happy at 52c prìmed in Summer.

E8500 @ 4.16GHz (1GHz exact overclocked = 31.5%) 490FSB x 8.5 multipliers
with Gigabyte EP45-DS3R + 4GB G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPI + Xigmatek S1283V
* Vcore bios: 1.40000v / Idle: 1.344 / load: 1.312 / IBT load: 1.296
P95 sFFT 9hrs = 52c max / IBT Maxium level 10 loops = 65c

IMO, Xigmatek couldn't handle the heat at high OC as hyped to be. Its PWM 2000rpm stock fan didn't help much and way too loud. Replaced with a Thermaltake 13cm fan with constant 1400rpm just as good and quieter.
Testing done in Summer

@ 4.36GHz / 1.5250 Vcore bios / idle: 1.472 / load: 1.392 / IBT = 92c (484fsbx9) = TOO HOT
