Would a physx, help in overall gaming performance? Or does it only help on physx supported games?

There's a reason those went from a cool Idea to a useless metal square.

UT3 has only a few maps specially designed for physx, other than that it doesn't support it. Nobody plays the physx maps online so it's generally useless.

There's more particle effects from breaking glass in that one shootout scene in the penthouse loft, but you have to run out of there too fast to even see it happening. Also there's a plastic drape you move through that looks more realistic at one point.

So not really, no.

In mirrors edge there are lots of nice little touches with physics on. There's a bit where your running along scaffolding with some drapes on it. A guy pops out and if you kick him hard enough he rips though it and it looks great. There's a lot of little stuff basically.
