New RTCW Game / PC.

The new RTCW with many of the same characters is due out in summer 2009. Only a few months away!
RTCW 2 "The Sequel" is what they are calling it for now.
I've been waiting years for this!

In another G4/Tech TV piece Todd Hollenshead talked about what's next for id, which is an all-new property. He also mentioned Return to Castle Wolfenstein 2 is in development, though didn't say what company is developing it. EuroGamer is speculating the developer might be Splash Damage, contributor to DOOM3's multiplayer maps (and they did Wolfenstein: Enemy Terroritory). In a job posting from a while ago the UK based studio mentions "In a continuation of our successful collaboration with id Software and Activision we have started production of a new full game based on the cutting-edge Doom 3 engine".

This Game will ROCK. Go check the trailers out!

From what I read, it's going back to the WW II story line. The screen shots look un-real! I agree, Quake Wars wasn't my thing either. I never did buy it and I don't think it sold very well.

I enjoy Quake Wars, although the player base is not very big. It's one of those games that is more fun at LAN parties.

That's an old report from G4. The developer of the new RTCW game, just called Wolfenstein, is not Splash Damage. It turned out that Splash Damage project was Quake Wars. Rather, the developer behind Wolfenstein is Raven Software. Both developers have a history of working with id, but IMO Raven has produced the better games.

Oh, and that new property id is working on is called Rage, a first person shooter / racing game hybrid of sorts.

I saw this being played live at GDC on a PC using a Logitech controller, looked really good! Right away you could tell it was a Wolfenstein game, I asked them to show me the 'veil' mode and the transition looks really sweet.

The Ghostbusters game was right next door and looked just as good!

I absolutely loved the first one. Can't wait for the new one to come around. Think I'm going to play some Wolfenstein 3D to celebrate.

I know there's no grand plan here. This is just the way it goes.

Can't wait. RTCW, ET, ETQW, or most any Wolfenstein or Quake-based game, I enjoy/ed them all. I'm hoping for good multiplayer in the style of RTCW/ET.
