I have 3 HDDs.
320GB for Vista 64 Ultimate, 500GB for Storage of data and 650GB for backup of the two drives (Acronis True Image).
I thought of getting 2 750GB (or 1TB) HDDs and trying a RAID for the first time.

My number 1 goal will be a reliable backup of my files and the second a snappier system.
Will this be a good idea and if so, what RAID shouid I try?

Thank you.

RAID one will give you data redundancy but do not consider it a replacement for proper back-ups. RAID one will give a bit better performance but at the cost of greatly reduced reliablity, if either drive goes all you data is gone.

I was under the impression that RAID 1 made 2 copies of the data on 2 separate hard drives so it is safer.
