Is there a service or something that will enable me to remote desktop into a machine that is behind a complex (campus) network?

Er, what exactly do you mean by "complex network"? If host to host communication is possible, and no deny rules are set up for RDC port numbers, then you should be able to use remote desktop. Otherwise, I'd suggest using logmein.com. From what it appears, that teamviewer probably does the exact same thing as logmein.

pah complex? i doubt you have seen complex :D

i think what you are trying to put forward is that you are behind a firewall or firewalls that you have no access to?

LogMeIn is pretty nice and fairly secure. It's super easy to use and I'm sure you wouldn't have any trouble getting it to work with your network.
