Why no Xfire on Nv Chipsets?

Ok I can see why Nv doesn't ( or didn't ) let Intel use SLI . They wanted to Push their Motherboards, but why would ATI limit them selves to just Intel? Doesn't seam to make good Market sence .
 
Why would you get the ATI board if NVidia supports both SLI and XF ? Not that even if NV would be allowed to use XF on their mobos they would use it.
 
Maybe AMD offered but Nvidia declined?
Maybe AMD wants to promote their chipsets?

Nvidia seems like the bigger culprit in this as SLI only worked on their chipsets until recently. AMD has been offering CFX on both Intel and their chipsets since the introduction of CFX, I think.
 
I reckon that ATi Just wanted to focus on making the best GPUs they can. Oh btw doesn't amd now own ATi so technicaly ATi does make motherboards i guess :)
