The deals dead. They sold out a couple hours ago. They got me to bite on one and a 46" sony LCD to go with. At $1300 for a 46" Blueray set-up I couldn't resist.

You think the Sceptre is as good a TV as the Sony? The TVs are only $100 difference anyway, the BR vs PS3 is another $100.

I like Sceptre. I've had mine for a good many years. Colors are starting to burn-in though...

I'd go with whichever one has the best (preferably replacement) warranty.

Its the 46" S series I got. For the price I don't think you can beat the picture. Again, a plain BR is $200- $300 so the $300 for a PS3 is a no brainer. Certainly something I'lll use as a gaming system, not just for movies.

Honestly I haven't researched TVs so I'm not certain. But there IS more to an LCD, whether it be a TV or a monitor, than the panel OEM, the panel is only one part of the equation that adds up to the whole. Given your recent adventure in speakers it would be like me saying that any speaker using the same drivers is the same.

I got the pair today and watched my first BR and was beyond impressed. I thought my plasma had a good picture but it cannot hold a candle to this thing.

Be careful buying off or lower brand TV's, not all are created equal. Go to BB and take a look at a Dynex 1080P and tell me there is not difference to the major brands. I am not saying the scetpre is a bad TV but I have my doubts. The Sony I got is just a year old so a good deal since they were clearing out inventory.
