XFire question

I'm about to order a 2nd 4850 along with a new PC I'm putting together. Two questions, probably obvious.

1) Would a 1 gig 4850 work with a 512 meg 4850.

2) Assuming yes, should I use the 1 gig as the main and the 512 as the slave? IIRC with SLi, the slave's memory isn't used, just the GPU, so using the 1 gig as the slave would be a serious waste.

They will work. The 1 Gigger's memory will be taken down to 512 usable too, so you'll have two "512 MB 4850s".
If you have a 512 MB 4850, don't order a 1 GB version. If you have a 1 GB 4850, preferably don't order a 512 MB version.

bg is right but i would still order the 1gb because you can sell the 512 to a friend and buy your self a 2nd 1gb lol

with that resolution u will be fine with just another half a gig version,FYI newegg has saphire one on sale for 86 bucks !!! after rebate and code

Yeah it's prob. bottlenecking the single 4850... I'm coupling the new 4850 with a Phenom 2 940.

Thanks for the link too, that's the exact same card I've got now that I payed $150 for in March.

Go get that while it's cheap and ships for free... No real point in a 1 GB version with that price.
