formating problems

hey everyone im trying to get a new hard drive that i got from newegg to format and have been trying for about 36 hours now. my computer wont pick it up so i cant format it the way i have all the other ones... if someone could please help me out i would apprecate it

I'm assuming the BIOS sees the drive? Have you tried low-level formatting it with one of the utilities found on the UBCD?

no the problem is i cant get any of my comps bios to pick it up i have 2 computers in my house and both of them ive built but im just lost with this hard drive....

It might help us to know your system spec's in detail, including make and model of HDD, and how it's connected to the board (including the specific controller). Also include the OS you're running, including any SP installed.

my mobo is EVGA:132-YW-E180-A1
my ram is ocz:OCZ3N1800SR2GK ddr3 1800
my cpu is intel q9550
video card nvidia 260 gtx
CORSAIR 750w psu
the hard drive im trying to format is a seagate ST380815AS but im just lost ive tryed plugging it into every sata port on my mobo and my moms 4 year old comp(dont have specs to that)

Check if Seagate's SeaTools for DOS sees the drive...

... as it's very possible the drive was DOA.
