Hello, I have recently constructed myself a brand new computer. 2. Processor: AMD HDZ940XCGIBOX Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition 3.0GHz

3. Motherboard: ASUS M3A78-T AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD.

4. Video card: EVGA 512-P3-N884-AR 512MB GeForce 9800 GTX + Superclocked DDR3 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card.

5.RAM: (Two) 4GB, 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 memory module.

6.Hard Disk: Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 3.5 Inch, 32 MB Cache, 7200 RPM SATA II WD1001FALS

7.Heatsink: Cooler Master V8 PWM Universal CPU Cooler (Intel LGA775 / LGA1366 & AMD 940 / AM2 / AM2+) (RR-CCH-L9U1-GP).

I updated my Sound Drivers, now I have a Realtek HD Audio Manager and my sound card drivers are up to date. But I still get that random freezing and static...Anyone else have suggestions? I really want to fix this.

-No I haven't, I'm not sure how to. Could you explain?

-And my headset is pretty horrible, but it comes out of my tv's speakers too, so I don't think it's my headsets problem. Idk if my sound card is bad, it works up until static comes out of my TV or headset and shakes my room.

First of all, Welcome to the Forums!

From what I am reading, I see two possible scenarios:

1- The audio problem causes the lockup, or;

2- The lockup causes the audio problem.

Since you are using newest drivers with no joy, try looking at it from the other direction. You mentioned that it works fine at idle, but otherwise crashes. Check to make sure the heatsinks are properly seated and all fans are plugged in/operating correctly.

run the psu test on occt^ it stresses all the hardware, and if ur copmuter freezes up/static you know its a hardware error ( unstable voltages/clocks/bad memory)
i also knew someone who had a similar problem, and it was because his graphics card was not seated correctly

I'm going with the PSU on this one. You didn't use the one that came with that case, right?

I downloaded the program, but I don't know which test is the psu test. I see
CPU:OCCT, CPU:LINPACK, GPU: OCCT, GPU: MEMTEST, and POWER SUPPLY.
I think you ment the power supply one so I ran it for 1 hour, and then it finished, then I reopened firefox and my computer emited the static and froze...
And no, I used the heatsink I bought that's in my list of parts.

Could my power supply be too weak? Is 500 watts weak? Or should I replace my motherboard? Could that be the problem?

Huh? I used the heatsink I actually bought, the Cooler Master V8 PWM Universal CPU Cooler (Intel LGA775 / LGA1366 & AMD 940 / AM2 / AM2+) (RR-CCH-L9U1-GP). It's posted at the top...

Would you mind answering the question that I've asked 2 times so far?

Everything so far points to the PSU.
