Depends on the rez of the 19inch.

DEFINITELY.

I'm sure... to some extent... My 4ghz plus is bottlenecking my 260.

For your rez and CPU (unless you plan on upgrading) you'd be better off with a 4850. But if you have the extra money laying around for a 4870... who cares if it's bottlenecking or not?

The rez is 1440x900 & 75HZ refresh rate & may upgrade for a Benq T2200HD

are you sure of your bottleneck (I'm sure... to some extent... My 4ghz plus is bottlenecking my 260.) lol

I own the graphic card not going to buy

any way thanks

Can you not clock the E7300 higher? If you can that will help... but at the res of a 19inch monitor it will def be a bottleneck...

those things (e7300) can get to at least 3.6ghz. my friend, Cuiiey (here on OCF) has his on 3.8ghz. you could ask him for his BIOS settings if you want to.
i'm sure that'd boost performance marginally.

this makes me wonder
when running the likes of 3dmark06 which is defaulted to 1024x768, woudln't i get better performance out of my 3.4ghz e6400 and 4850 if i ran the test at 1680x1050?

No.

What I meant was that cards like the 4870/260 really open-up when comparing them to other cards at higher resolution. I.E. my 260 is probably only relatively faster than my 8800GTS 640 at my current resolution of 1360x768.

At 1900x1200 with 16xAA however... the difference would be ASTONISHING.

The reason your 4850 wouldn't be faster at a higher resolution is because the tests aren't really DESIGNED for a higher resolution. (I think most people run 3Dmark06 at 1280x1024 btw...) Vantage is... but not the older apps.

At any rate the higher resolution the lower your score would be... but not compared to other cards (I.E... unless I overclocked it to the moon... your 4850 would've beaten my 8800GTS 640 once we hit 1650x1080... 1900x1200... etc...) It's just possible... however... that I could've beaten you at 1024x768 if properly tweaked.

You're still going to get great performance, as 1440x900 is starting to approach the point where the GPU takes over. Should you upgrade to a 1680x1050 or 1920x1200 monitor you'll definitely be prepared.

I know there's no grand plan here. This is just the way it goes.
