I recently bought some OCZ Platinum PC28000.

I removed my old PC5400 and installed the OCZ in Dual Channel and set
Voltages to spec 2.1 and 5-5-5-18.

Now for the question. CPUZ identifies my ram as PC6400?

I have read that it is in fact PC6400 binned as 1066. Is this right?

If so will running it at higher volts 2.2 help me run as 1066?

If it does run as 1066, does this really benefit me over 800?

My CPU is in sig.

P.S. with this ram I am actually able to push my Q6600 to 3.8, but I don't know if this will be beneficial in the long run or if I should just back it down and install my 4 GIGS of PC 5400 with the Ocz for 8 gigs.

Any professional recomendations?

It's close, it actually should be PC8000

They could be 1066 binned chips put into 800 packaging. Crucial did this with the Ballistlx.

I would run at higher that 2.2 period.

The diffference isn't monstrous especially if you have to loosen the timings. Pretty much a status symbol kina deal. From what I have it think you have PC8000 or 1000Mhz sticks. Do you have a link to what you bought?

Well first of all, PC2-8000 is DDR2 1000 FSB not 1066. I run PC2-8000 Gskill sticks that are also detected as pc6400. Basically they are pre overclocked so you will be very luck to get anything more out of them than the 1000fsb.

I think the point or main question I am getting at is... even though the faster ram allows me to reach 3.8 Ghz on my Q6600, would it be better to run:

Q6600 @3.8 with 4 (2X2)GB PC8000 or

Q6600 @3.6 with 4 (2X2)GB PC8000 and 4 (2X2) PC5400

More ram or faster ram? Where faster ram = 200 Mhz clock increase?

sell the 5400 and get more 8000 lol. for me its summertime w/o ac so i usually play conservative and would do the 3.6 in my case
