Hey Guys,
I'm running a Core i7 920 @ 3.8GHz (1.30V) in a Thermaltake M9 with a CoolerMaster V8 and Arctic Silver 5. It sits on an Intel DX58SO and runs a Radeon 4890 (XFX)
My problem is thus, the CPU VR temp is 49 at idle. IOH is 46. GPU is 48. This is all pretty normal, nice and cool, but the effing cores won't go below 55, at idle!!!
I have two 120mm intake fans and one exhaust + the PSU fan which I guess is a 230mm?!
I spread a small dot of the thermal paste on the HS with a credit card. I also let it cure nicely, on all day off at night. Also I disabled fan control so all fans work at 100%
Note: The RAM slots are above the socket instead of beside it. This lowers the position of the socket. Thus the CPU HS fan is only partially blowing into the exhaust fan, to compensate I left one of my PCI slots open.
Any ideas as to why my core temps are this high???
