"genuine intel processor not detected"anymore.

After installing an aftermark heatsink, programs like realtemp and intel desktop control ceter are telling me that "unable to verify genuine intel", but BEFORE i installed my CPU heatsink I did'n't have this issue.


Any advice or tips?
I run a DXSOx58 with a core i7 920, overclocked usually @ 3.8-4.2 Ghz
I also use WinXP currently.

I'm at a loss as to how that could happen....

Maybe it is too tight of a fit - partially crushing the core? Just a guess...

I'd try to re-socket the CHIP and re-seat the HSF as well. Check mounting carefully and make sure you don't have TIM oozing out the sides getting on the PCB...

If there is no issue with performance than wouldn't worry about it.

I have had that before. I just reseated the CPU and the HS/F. Problem Solved.
