Just got a HTPC and Im looking for a modular (if possible) PSU with a max length of 140mm.

As silly as it sounds, short of picking up EVERY PSU box and looking at lengths, I havent been able to find a quick suggestion to that.

I was going to use my Corsair 650 but it is 150 which will eliminate drive bays.

Ok Wolf, SN, others little help please?

I have a zippy which is POSSIBLY just big enough but Im not sure if they followed LxWxH or not.

While it would void the warenty... could you put the guts of the PSU in a smaller box...would not be hard to make out of sheet metal. But that is me... If I cant find exactly what I want, I build or modify to my needs. ... just my 2¢

The Enermax Eco80+ I just reviewed is 140mm deep, as is its Liberty Eco cousin.

NewEgg gives the dimensions of the PSUs they sell on their web site. Just click on the product listing and go to the "Specifications" tab.

Thing is, it's really hard gutting out some PSU's that are attached to the chassis in so many ways. Power plug, fans, fan control, PCB board screws, 110/220v switch, etc..

well, if it's a simple PSU and you got all the metal shop stuff, then great!

I would start looking a those PSUs that don't have 120mm fan cooling because that just about guarantees they will be deeper than 140mm.

trents has a point...a 120 mm fan will need more than 120mm of room for mounting.
I would also look to the egg for the dimensions...even if you don't buy from them.

been looking, but it has been put on hold for two reasons. 1. I got laid off on the 30th. 2.had a corsair go and let all its magic smoke out yesterday right AFTER I got back getting a tentative quote to ship my back up PSU. Gotta figure out if it fried the system when it died or not.
