I currently have four 3com switches in this model

and another 5 without the fiber connections.

So the fiber cables are MT-RJ (switch) into a ST(patch panel).

We currently received some HP Procurve 2510's and need the fiber connections still running between the two buildings. We have one mini GBIC module for the procurve switches. We obviously need more than this but my question is on if this will work or not.

Let say I have two mini gbic's modules - one in each building.

If I run a LC to ST cable will this work? What I am not sure of is if this will work because all the LC cables I see are going into "two heads" for a lack of definition. As such...

long as the ends are right it shouldn't matter, just remember if you cant link up the connection swap one side of the fiber connectors on one of the links.

edit: are you polishing your fiber ends, or are you getting pre made? much easier to get them pre made if you can :)

you need the right connectors for the mode of fibre you are using. i advise against using media convertors as these introduce more hassle and risk.
