Average temperature of an OC'd q6700 (2.6ghz to 3.3ghz)

This depends on several things:
-ambient temp
-CPU cooler used
-Airflow in the case
-Specific chip (all CPUs are different).

However, 60-65C idle is massively hot. Are you sure its not 60F? If 60-65C is accurate, and your ambient temp is something reasonable (ie < 50C!), you might have an issue with the way your heatsink is mounted.

EDIT: Also, what are you using to measure the temp? Try using Real Temp or Core Temp, they should give accurate results.

Yeah that's a pretty hot temp for idle.

I know my old Q6600 G0 I have in my wife's build ran around 70-74 under heavy load at 3.6 with Prime on large Ftt's when I used to use it myself, that seems pretty hot.

The True 120's would be a good upgrade for a CPU one I'd think, I like my Sunbeam but they can be a PITA to get mounted right.

That TT doesn't look too good to me, never used one of their coolers myself but ...

Sorry I'd link a True 120 site, I know there is one people use here a lot but just did a system reinstall last night and can't remember the name of the place off hand, a lot of my bookmarks gone, hehe.

*edit* Ah I just remembered, Jab-Tech

From what I've read the Mugen 2's look very good also that are there.

Thanks for the help guys, I opened up my system and noticed one of the
screws weren't down all of the way. Now my CPUs running low 40s idle.

Thanks for the help! :)
