Ok I am tired of having to hunt around the web trying to get the info for different portions of the Perc 5i cards.

Both have the cables for a VERY nice price (2-3 of them for the price of one at Microcenter). The cables I linked are the straight connector cables which MOST people with a hotswap or backplane will need.

You can get the angle connectors (I have 2 that will likely sit for a good while).

The battery so far I have seen on Ebay for the best price (figure on average to the US it will be about 30-40 for the cable and battery.)

The memory is tricky it seems, anyone with a Perc 5i PLEASE list your modules specs (i.e. DDR2 400 single bank ECC REG and model no: MT9HTF6472Y-40EB2)
400MHz ECC-registered DIMMs with x16 DRAM components. Installing unsupported memory causes the system to hang at POST. You have to buy x8 or x16 Memory Modules:
x8 = 9 Chips (1 ECC)
x16 = 5 Chips (1 ECC)
I would like to try to get a concentrated thread of parts and model #s that work for this card (cables and memory especially).

Verified memory that works for the Perc5i

Links to threads that contain the info but are EXTREMELY spread out.

Add to this thread IF you have one of these please. I would like to get a concise version of the Overclockers thread.

Gotcha, let me know if you need anything. Also, nice time-warp post.

looking for 256 memory module Part #
The stock one? I might have it laying around here...

I know you did like I did and tossed a second HS on, you running a fan on them as well?
Yes, the heatsink is pretty sweet; just a Zalman chipset heatsink. Took the clip off the stop heatsink (PITA!) and used that to hold it down. Used thermal tape to hold the stock heatsink to the other chip.

In this picture, you can barely see the heatsink with the Delta fans aimed at it. Even after nailing the RAID array hard, the heatsink never got much over "warm". Probably 35c, if that.

I really hope this thread lives up to its potential. The perc 5i is a great raid card for non whs setups and this forum could certainly use more info on it with the name getting brought up so much.

Trying to get it to do so, the system that had the Perc5 along with my 9800gtx+ and 4tb worth of storage went kaput last night, Im gonna have to drop to bare metal to figure out what if anything got fried.

Luckily MOST of the stuff (excluding storage, perc5 and 9800gtx+) I have spares of to test with.

Since my Windows install is completely toasted and I moved all the data off the server, I'm doing some testing of 8 drives in many configurations.

I'm testing all levels of raid (except RAID0), all three "read ahead" options and all three "write policy" options. I'll create a new thread and link it here.
