Windows Vista install...

Having some major problems trying to get my vista installed off a jump drive...

I goofed the initial install up when I pulled the usb out after it did the first restart... didn't put it back in. Then i restarted so it would continue... now I can't do it on any of my hard drives that... Sometimes it says failure to start deployment engine or no hard drive to store temporary files...

Just wondering if this is normal... its a customized version of vista ultimate by the way.

Help before I go crazy.

windows error code 0x80070057, which from googling is mostly a windows update problem...

Getting that error code now... In both vista ultimate and 7 RC installs...

Did I bone my drives... 2 of WD's do it now...

The 3rd one I'm leaving alone..

New update... Messed with my ram settings on my board.

Got mostly through... restarted... then I got a blank screen... so the install didn't finish.

Running windows memory diagnostics tool currently...

vista will not install on any USB hard drive
it will even tell you on the screen

shut off your power supply for a half hour then turn the P.S switch back on
should reset it

I'll try the resetting thing.

I've done it on my laptop, my desktop, and a few of my friends desktops....

Well problem solved... I reformatted a drive... installed fine... the quick formats didn't work.

Weird eh?

Not weird if the drive had bad sectors.
