I cut off some of the top of the black connector part for one end of the sata cable, the plug-in part. I then wrapped electric tape around it. Do you think this will be ok to use or could it cause some problems with my drive or motherboard?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I can't be sure now because I've got it taped up with electric tape. But I did a good job of just cutting away the black plug-in part only. There is still the red part of the cable present for most of the spacing. I think there is a very small gap but I couldnt really see what could be exposed there.

I don't know if noise will get in there and corrupt data or if esd could be created and fry my mobo or drive...

I have the UV green ones, they work just like regular ones, but at 90 degrees. Not a whole lot to talk about there.

I found these but I don't know what the difference is when it comes to the
SATA-0.5-MINI and the SATA-1-MINI in their title. Is one thinner than the other? What part is thinner if that's the case?

Thanks in advance. One of these might be the solution I need. Just need to know what their difference is besides their length...

Well, from looking at the pic it seems the connector is shorter than a regular sata, but I still think you would be better off with a 90 angle connector.
