RSS Feeds

I am not sure if this question belongs here or not.
But since I did not get any satisfactoey or explaining reply on any other board, I am putting this question here.

What is RSS Feeds on news website ?

I read about it on google, but could not understand. So pls dont provide link to some website.

Quite often I see RSS feeds on the news paper websites. Whats this RSS Feeds and how is it different from news posted on website ?
Sometimes I see subscribe to "RSS Feeds" , what does it do when we scbscribe to RSS Feeds. I was going through RSS Feeds on a news paper website and I did not find anything special there. It was just a bit different in layout. Does Rss Feeds make any difference ?

I read that RSS provides, continuous updating of information. But thats done on the website anyways.
Does the RSS provide info before website does ?
Does it provide info without logging in to the website ? If not, then whenever I logon to the website all the updates are already there on the front page only. What different does RSS do ?
Does it deliver news feed directly in some fol;der on my comuter, wityhout me logging on to internet ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

This is what I get from microsoft website "http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA101595391033.aspx?pid=CH100622171033"

The benefit of RSS is the aggregation of all content from multiple Web sources in one place. You no longer have to visit different Web sites for news, weather, blogs, and other information. With RSS, summaries of content are delivered to you, and then you decide which specific articles you want to read by clicking a link.

According to this info, if I sign up for RSS feed, then I will get information from diffrent website. Question is, which websites do I get info from ? Does it get delivered in my inbox ? Is this RSS feeds specific to Microsoft outlook only ?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Does RSS feed on diffrent website work diffrently ?
If I signup for RSS Feeds for news updates on the newspaper "The Hindu" , then will it provide news updates from that newspaper only or will it collect news updates from other sources also ? I did signup for the news updates for "The Hindu", it just created a folder "Microsoft Feeds" in the Favorites and there is "The Hindu - Breaking News" in that folder. So everything it does is I just need to go in favorites and click on the "The Hindu - Breaking News" to get updates. But that I can do by adding link "The Hindu" to favorites. Whats the advantage of signing up for RSS Feeds ?

thanks

You can use Google to subscribe to an RSS feed, and then see the headlines from that feed on google.com/ig
