DNA LED Lights!

Quote:
By adding fluorescent dyes to DNA and then spinning the DNA strands into nanofibers, researchers at the University of Connecticut have made a new material that emits bright white light. The material absorbs energy from ultraviolet light and gives off different colors of light--from blue to orange to white--depending on the proportions of dye it contains.

Since DNA is a very strong polymer it will last 50x more than acrylic.

I wonder if this will catch on, kinda weird but neat. It would be pretty awesome for computer modding. What do you think?

Hopefully having DNA + UV light won't cause them to mutate and take over the electronics device.

so what if the strand is infected with a viral rna strand like herpes?

Seriously though I wouldn't mind asking the guy to test if viruses have an effect on the strands properties.

The RNA strands emit the darker colors, like black and brown. Herpes emits blinking red
