Hey guys I'm new here, created an account here because of g0dM@n.
I just bought a new system and was hoping to try my hand at overclocking it. I have heard and known about overclocking for years but never really looked into it because I heard horror stories about things over heating and such. I am hoping some people can give me some steps to take and some pointers so everything runs stable. I would be very appreciative of any help!

I have an AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor which I heard can get up to 3.7 easily.

I also have an ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard, CORSAIR XMS3 DHX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory, 2 hard drives running at 72k rpm and I will most likely have a video card at some point but I havent gotten one yet, when I do it will probably be something like a Radeon 4850. I have an Antec 500w power supply that is a few years old.

I have no aftermarket cooling equipment. Only the fan or fans that come with what I mentioned above.

Any help would be very appreciated by this overclocking first timer. Thanks!
