Which Direct Show filter do you use to encode H.264?

Right now I'm using Quicktime's filter with River Past Video Cleaner.

It works fine, but the highest bit rate I can get is 2048kB/s. Just wondering if there is a filter out there that allows a higher bit rate or if this is the max I can get with H.264.

Use an x264-compatible program like RipBot264, MeGUI or SUPER. You could also use Handbrake. Or, learn a good skill by taking up AviSynth scripting and frameserve to the x264 encoder directly.

h.264 can definitely go higher than 2048Kb/s. In fact, at a level 5.1 Hi444PP (high 4:4:4 predictive profile), bitrate maxes out at just under 1Gbps (960Mbps).

I just use handbrake and call it a day. Can you really notice that much of a difference by going custom with the filters, bitrates, etc. ?
