XFX 9800gt Power Issues??

Hi everyone,

I have owned my rig (see sig) for about 3 months now, i have since then upgraded a few simple things, fans coolers etc.

The problem I have had recently is BSOD during crysis warhead, usually about 10 mins into gameplay, I rebooted and started up realtemp and alt+tab about 10 mins into gameplay and my gpu was only 58*C max aslo cpu temp was 55*C.

I updated my drivers and reseated my arctic cooling gpu cooler and tested my memory using memtest also did another 5 hours of p95 to test my OC.

The only thing I can think of now is the PSU, it cost me £20 link http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159706

It only has 14 amps on the 12V rail, im pretty sure this aint enough for my gpu, plus ive never heard of this brand.

What do you guys think

Since I don't personally know too much about that brand of PSU, I would recommend a quality unit, just for the safety of your system. If you can find it, the Antec EarthWatts 500 should be plenty to power that 9800GT. I have a Neo 500 running my Q6600 and 9800GT system, and it has been running without issue for quite some time. Your GPUTemps look phenomenal compared to mine, and depending on your CPU, could be good or a little high, but I don't think they are really worth worrying about. Antec PSU's are good quality Seasonic builds, and the higher end ones are Delta (like the Signature Series and higher wattage units). Corsair also has some very solid units, also Seasonic built, and I believe their higher end is CWT (Channel Well Tech). Before going too much farther, I would look into getting a high quality PSU.

Your GPU temps look very good to me. I have an eVGA 9800GT, running with stock cooling, and at 100% load, has been jumping anywhere from mid 70's to low 80's temp wise.

Also, since I am posting from my BlackBerry and can't see sigs, what CPU are you running in that rig? I don't really know AMD's offerings too well these days, but I do know Intel quite well. Generally, if you are running one of the newer generation chips, I would say your CPU temp is probably right on as well.

I have an E5200 OC to 3.5Ghz max temp at 100% load is 61*c

So do think its time to upgrade my psu, and its nothing wrong with my GPU, I dont suppoase it could be my bios settings, is it the SB that controls data transfer between cpu and gpu

Are you cooling all the components on the gfx card? Specifically, the VRMs?
