cpu temp sensor placement


hey i just got anew case that comes with a temp sensor. it comes in a clear plastic tube. is this a cpu temp sensor? and if it is how should i install it.

the tube is to protect the actual sensor...the sensor looks like a clear orange plastic...

i wouldnt use a sensor like that to monitor temps i would rather use coretemp but you can tape it to one of the fins on your heatsink so your temp gauge wont just stay at 0.... the closer to the cpu the more acurate of a temp you will get

but dont put the sensor between the cpu and the heatsink! if you do you will hurt the performance of the your heatsink and probably make your cpu overheat ....

or use it to measure the temp of something u can monitor via software such as the hdds or ram or something. take into acct that it will only be so accurate.
