I have a 4890 from XFX, its stock 850 and 975(3.9ghz) but i raised it easily to the 1ghz core with fan at 65%, hits around 70 to 75 degrees in crysis, the ddr5 memory i could only raise it to 995mhz without artifacting however:-/ no matter how high the fan speed i turn up

I added my new card in the count as I it just ordered a Sapphire Toxic last night. Got a good deal too at ewiz for $208. Just couldn't resist the need for speed.

The XFX does not clock nearly as well as the MSI. Suprisingly. I could hit 970 on stock voltage with the MSI, the XFX wont hit 935 without artifacting.

I just got a MSI T2DIG OC, but I haven't had a chance to install it. Hopefully it will clock as well as your MSI mxthunder.

Higher clock renders higher FPS? How does it differ from total memory? More mem for higher res?

Was thinking about the 4890

yes, more memory helps with the higher res, because of the extra large textures, etc. higher clocks will generally yield better fps but it all depends on what kind of bottlenecks the system has.

Ah, I see.

I wouldn't play on anything higher than a 22"

I7 920 @ 4GHz, 6gb DDR3 1800, 750hx - What would be needed to play all current games at max? I was thinking about just waiting till the next gen comes around, supposed to be soon? I think?

I don't mean to hijack the thread, just figured it fits because I was gonna go 4890 x2 :p

Yep certainly with a 4890 x2 you would be able to play all current games at max settings and even today with a 4870x2 or Nvidia285/295.

Why wait, join the 4890 crowd now cards are even less than $200 which is a lot of bang for the buck !

New stuff in October will be pricey and you would have to wait another 3 months before they come down a bit.

Well my systems not finished yet, still need a cooler/case/HDD .. I'm just gonna be using some old stuff I have till then.

So I figure I wouldn't get one for another two weeks. I'm thinking I'll grab a SSD/4890/cooler then, and I'll get a case whenever I get around to it .. no need for one soon anyways :)

1 Sapphire OC edition here. Runs @ 900/1000. As far I've pushed as high as 935/1100 at stock voltage.

netmask which model# is that Sapphire. You can find it on UPC Label on box or on sticker on back of card.

i have 2 xfx 4890's not to sure which model they are i already threw the boxes away... but they have 2 6pin connectors.. i know some of them have one 6 and one 8...

at stock i think they did 950/1000 not to sure i volt modded them right away lol...

at 1.4v they do 1020/1100 stable

I have:

HIS | H489F1GP |850 | 950

The card can do 1100 on the memory easily, but wont even do 900 core at stock voltage. I have to up it to around 1.35v to maintain stability. 950 is possible but takes over 1.4v to do it.

I thought 950 would be cake with any 4890.

PN 288-1E115-200SA and there is written as well below SKU# 11150-04-20R I think the second one goes for the model though. It's stickers are identical to 100269SR but it's clocks are a little higher.
