Audigy Digital out a little strange

I went to hook my SB Audigy up to my home theatre reciever, to get those good ol mp3's playing. I ran a cable from tht digital out to the reciever's digital in, and...Well, it worked, but i'm only getting 2 channels, no matter what mode i set the audigy in. Now, the digital out is a 2 channel connector, so i plugged the other channel into my digital in, and...hey, the other 2 channels. So, from what I can gather, the audigy is outputting 2 separate digital signals. Well doesn't that suck. I mean, I can run my reciever, but only in stereo. Is there any way to remedy this?

i think we need to clear this up a little bit.. what mode are you trying to listen to your mp3s in? if you're trying to do a dolby digital or dts setup, it won't work. just because you're running a digital output from the audigy doesn't mean that you can listen to it in 5.1. that would be up to your receiver to try and pull off, which would most likely end up coming out in dolby pro-logic. at least this is how i understand it

you'll only get dolby digital signals from dolby digital sources, like dvds, some new games, etc. mp3s will always be stereo, you can get dolby surround out of some stuff though, mostly the mood music stuff, or nature stuff. put in a dvd and see if it puts the right signal out.

no. The problem is that the audigy seems to be splitting the digital signal into 2 separate signals. In 4 channel mode, each signal outputs 2 channels. Most audio sources (Like a dvd player) send out one singal digital signal with all the channels combined.

I wanted to know why the audigy splits the channels across 2 separate bitstreams, and if there were a way to combine them.

open the 'surround mixer' that installed with the audigy software. go into advanced mode, and make sure that "digital output only" is checked. then change the speaker setup to 5.1. that's your only hope... my digital output works fine, all across the sole digital output.

Yeah, ive been to the menu. I guess there's no hope for me. lol. Oh well, I guess 2 channels going through is better than 0.
