Bob Dylan

Anyone who knows anything about music, knows of Bob Dylan, and has listened to his music (at some point in their lives, I don't think anyone in the world hasn't heard a Bob Dylan song). But recently I decided to go over some of his msic, and I'm amazed at how it has grown on me. I mean, I've always kept him in extremely high regard, but I only listened to him occasionally in my past (and mostly as a pre-teen/early teenager). After my recent "re-listening" with my new perspective, I'm absolutely spellbound; I get goosebumps every time I hear something like "Times, they are-a-changin" or "Rolling Stone" (those ones stand out the most for me).

Which of his songs really reach out to you guys? When was the last time you listened to Bob Dylan? And if you haven't in a few years, I strongly suggest you give it another go!

My wife forces me to listen to that mumbling genius. I dont mind his music, I understand the scope and power of it, but its just not my bag. genius none the less.

Times, they are-a-changin stands out for me as well.

That was my view too, but recently; I can't get enough of his music. The constant listening may be a phase, but I'll always appreciate his music.

And I like a LOT of different genres. I mean I love pre-1997 rap/hip-hop, huge trance fan, 70's/80's/90's rock fan (including some new stuff), I even listen to some country (usually main stream stuff though i.e Kenny Rogers)

If I were you I would probably go to the store and buy Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, Bringing it All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde on Blonde right now and sit down and listen to them all, if you haven't already heard them.

I like it too, but definitely the Beatles version of it. Just like I like Hendrix' version of All Along the Watchtower.

Bob Dylan is legendary- truly awesome, always enjoy hearing Dylan, Arlo Gutherie too.

Listening to Hendrix' music gives me goose bumps....was in high school & then Viet Nam when Hendrix reigned; Hendrix' music heavily defined that era in my life.

Keep an eye/ear out for Dylan tours. I've seen him three times in the last decade, and it always is a small, intimate venue.

His songs are great - when someone else sings them. He has the voice of a tonedeaf frog.

Willy Nelson, Carole King, Neil young ...just to name a few.

I don't listen to Dylan, but I'll always remember my senior year English teacher telling us that he was a great lyricist, but a terrible singer. I've only heard a few of his songs (none of which I can think of off the top of my head), but none of it really stuck on me.
