Who needs a BE?

Not me that's for sure

Started OC/Tweaking my 920 yesterday, and am very pleased with the results.

Tuniq Tower with bolt through mod HS Yate Loon fan and a Panaflo 120mm for pressure. IPC built into desk with 2x120 and 3x80mm fans mounted in the door, cooling the whole tray. Door fans are located within 2 feet of an AC vent, so temps are very nice (under 30C idle under 50C load)

Managed to squeak out a new top CPUZ score.

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=660009

4.1GHz

Thank you OCZ Blades for making a near 300 HTREF BUS clock possible

Nice job!

I'm thinking more and more about going FSB max for OC, so that I can run Cool n Quiet, save power, money, heat, etc.

With that FSB did you change the multiplier for the northbridge? If so what voltage are you running it at?

I have no CPUNB voltage control on this board in BIOS

AOD lets me set max only.

So I booted at 275 dropped one multi on the NB (so 8x instead of 9x) once in windows upped the NB to 1.35. (Trusting software voltages LOL, since AOD lets me set nothing in between who knows)

Upped BUS to 293 and there yah go. Did not try for more. I have had this up to 300 before with dropped multis, but think I am at the max for my sticks at 1174. I have a feeling I will be passing 4100 soon enough. Just going to have to drop RAM multi down to 400 because this board only sets 2T at 800 Mem divider. And 1T is too much for 1000+

Yes BUS clocking is where it is at for performance.

Also I noticed that HTREF went up much easier when dropping the CPU a half multi, although for this verification I ran full 14x.

Thanks Guys.

Stopped because of time restraints.

I am home today and tomorrow so I hope to go a bit further (Not much I am sure but I do not think a 50% OC is too unreasonable to ask )

Me likes! I would run a higher Ref. clock for better ram speeds, but my ram errors out in memtest86 at a hair over 1000mhz which is what I run now. so .

And I forgot, Big shout out to stock multipliers!

Nice OC - and just the way I like it!

I notice you're keeping your HT Link speeds down. Any plans to push that up once you hit the top end on the CPU? I'd look forward to seeing results for that ...

No one needs the be, but, it does allow those with cheap motherboards to do more and does allow more tuning with a HT/multi combo OC.

Yah, having a BE on my other chip helped out for it, of course it was on a more expensive motherboard that could not bus clock to save its life.

QI: Yeah, I will adjust the HT Link up later, once I have maxed out everything else
Definitely will have it higher for some 3d benches.
