I suspect you need to update the BIOS on your motherboard.
What mobo do you have?

my mobo is ecs a780gm-a

at first my mobo doesnt recognize the amd processor chipset . it displays in my system properties in windows amd processor unknown.

after that i download the lastest bios in ecs then i flash it. after that it recognizes but the problem is that it only register 1 core even in msconfig -> boot.ini-> advance option- num of processors.
i also check it with cpu z . theres a link above that shows the results.

but i think before i update my mobo version windows only recognizes only 1 core..

do you think i should re format my windows xp sp3
hum...

Can you edit the advanced option for number of CPUs to 2?

Technically, it's a regor with a couple cores turned off.
I'd try installing AMD's official CPU drivers, XP needs to be forced to reevaluate the situation.

It sounds like a hardware problem to me then, could be the mobo or the cpu. Sorry i couldn't help more
Maybe someone else will chime in with ideas before you wake up tomorrow.

Must be a glitch in the BIOS settings. Might have to experiment around with different things.

Try disabling ACC (I do not know much about SB700 boards)

Have you tried the one RAM stick trick? Install only one stick of RAM and cold boot. Then reinstall normal RAM and cold boot. Sometimes that forces the BIOS to re-read the hardware, which may be the problem ...

i see. tomorrow ill go back to the store and get the results and my pc.

nway i was checking the compatibililty support in ecs and there is no phenom II x2 550 BE in the support list . heres the link

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Sup...uID=69&LanID=0

could this be one of the cause?

theres no acc support in a780gm-a mobo bios

also the southbridge is sb750

ill try the ram stick trick when i get the pc when there's no progress in the result of the check up

i also got a question is this a good mobo for phenom x2 550 "Asus M4A78-EM"

ECS is junk, change the mobo to the asus, a 9650 is a downgrade from a proper working PII 550.

Oh, and the asus board you chose, kinda not many options for the price.

Get this board-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157162

With that board you also have a chance to unlock your 550 into a quad (if it will stay stable) with the ACC function.

If it's not on the compatibility list, that is almost certainly your issue.

I would take a PhII550 over a PhI anything.

I can't say i agree with ECS being junk, as i have a cheeeeeap g31 ECS board that is fantastic for the price.
In this case though, that ECS board is not what you need.
