I can't get the surround to work in Windows 7. Worked fine in XP.
I downloaded the newest Windows 7 Via sound driver from the Asus site.
I installed the driver. No sound. Plugged in my new X-Fi and the driver wouldn't even install even though it's WIndows 7. It said it couldn't even recognize any hardware plugged in or something like that. I decided to go back to the onboard sound for now and there was a blanked out VIA HD Audio Deck icon in control panel so I reinstalled the Via driver. It's still blanked out even though I used the same install file.
Don't have any other sound related stuff installed.
I configured the speakers in control panel -> sound to 5.1.
Made sure the cables were plugged in <duh>.
No dice.
Any ideas?? 2 front speakers work fine, centre, rear, and bass are a no go.
