So i have ordered a gigabyte ga-ma770t-ud3p to go with the phenom II x3 720. one of the last things i need to figure out is the memory. The board supports DDR3 so thats where im going but other than that....no clue. was thinking 6 gb but after reading posts maybe 4 gb enough?

the specifications page on newegg says the memory standard is DDR3 1666(oc)/1333/1066. Is that the bandwidth(?) maybe? the comp will be used for gameing and thats it. newegg breaks down the speeds when i do a search and just for the 1333 there is 3 options.

1333(pc3 10600)
1333(pc3 10660)
1333(pc3 10666)

from the reading i have done here i think i want to go with the 1333 but uncertain on the 10*** numbers.

i may be wrong but your MB is probably dual channel therefore unless you can find 2x3GB you cant run 6gb of memory. you can run 4gb (2x2gb) or 8gb (4x2gb).

someone correct me if im wrong though. i have been saving for an i7 build and have already gotten my ram (3x2gb), and have recently thought about going AMD but all their MB are dual channel from what ive seen
