This is definitely a cool toy. I hope they override the clock limits in future versions.

I was thinking use this to up the voltages and a different program for the clocking.

Awesome, thanks for the link man. I wonder if this will work with my 4890's? Reminds me of evga precision..

I cant see why not.

Not sure if I should order a voltage friendly 5870 or wait until the 5890/GT300.

So it works with all cards? even though it says MSI? Im asking, just cause that was the first thing I saw when I clicked on the link.

It certainly works with a lot of cards. You have probably done the same but I use this for my 4890 exploits.

Have you disabled ATI power play ?

Try this,

Use AMD GPU tool to set the clocks and MSI AfterBurner for voltage and fan speed. You should be able to overcome the 900 limit then.

I tried AMD tool, can't go higher than 920 on the core then the drivers fail...as the drivers are still green I expect to see this card's muscles flex properly at the next revision. :)

Seems to work better with MSI and AMD tools in combo

I have ordered a 5870, and its going to be in big trouble when it arrives.

What are you load temps like ?

actually, if/when I decide to rebuild thats one thing Im gonna do is replace the stock fan, and most likely go water. thinking a 3x120 and a 2x120 should be plenty for an i7 rig with a pai of 5890's? the 2x120 strictly for the cards, and the 3x120 for the rest of the system?

anyways, I love the fact that they put voltage control on the 5800 series. makes the possibilities so much greater.

would you say the fan on the 5870 at 50% is quieter than on a 4890/4870 ??

It is quite a bit, I sucks a lot of air through those two tail pipes, very effective airflow design , one of the best I've seen IMO.
