It's official, the first Black Friday ad has been leaked (Half Price Books wins the honors), so I decided to get this thread established now since:

Black Friday is just two months away (2009/11/27).
Prognosticators are already making predictions.
The economy is in the tank (and will probably affect BF offers).
I wanted this thread to be more organized this year.

I'm reserving the next two replies for links to BF news and BF ads (respectively). I will update them as new links become available. For the news links, I'll try to post the publish date (if available) in front of the link as well as the date I posted the links. For the BF advertisements, I'll try to post the links to the retailers' home pages, the print advertisements, and online (text) lists. I will organize the list alphabetically by retailer. I also plan on compiling a list of Black Friday sites in front of the ad links. As always, if you find a scoop, post it! I'll incorporate it into the list as soon as I can.

Black Friday 2009 News

<Updated 2009/11/12>

2009/11/12 I wanted to add a quick note about how I pick links: I try to choose the ones that are arranged the best or are in the most convenient format. Generally, when one site gets a BF ad, they ALL get it simultaneously. If you don't like the link I picked, just go to the other BF sites and see if there is one more to your liking.

2009/11/05 I wanted to remind everyone (who hasn't already figured this out on their own) that links that I post here can become broken/disabled/edited out due to lawyers and removal orders. So, if any of you notice that a link has gone dead or otherwise no longer contains advertised content--drop me a line and I'll update the links if possible. Also, if there is an scan or list that you really want to keep, I suggest that you download such content directly to your PC since ads may come down at these sites at any time.

DANG!! i came late to the party on this forum. My friend use to work at new egg he would give me the low down

ill see if i can get some info

any secret Black Friday deal for i5 or i7 CPU, DDR3 memory, or mobo? I could wait an extra month if it means saving $50 or more.

gawd... BF crap already... tried to cash in on BF stuff the last two years and honestly there want anything worth my while. I dont even think im going to go out this year... theres no point trying to get around.

other than some blu-rays , there is nothing I want nor need this holiday season :D

Even if the Bluray was cheap, I wouldn't buy it yet as I'm still waiting for one of the 2 movies to come out first:

1080 version of Tron (heard Disney has problem digitizing the special effects)

or

original 1978 version of Star Wars. Not the 1993 hack (or the re-hack done to the original trilogy after the new trilogy was issued) but George Lucas claimed the original film were destroyed, I guess he would lose out on big money he could have made if he kept them to make a "special premium ultra-limited issue" of original Star Wars in 1080.

The uber cheap frys cpu/mobo combo deals are gone for the most part. They dropped their ecs mobo's and airlink wireless stuff. I know ECS boards arent the best for OC'ing but frys would sell them as combos cheaper that you could get the chip alone......

I think my best BF buy ever was an x2 ecs combo for $279. Bought 1 for myself and fleabayed 1 for $450.

Anyone one know why frys stopped w. the ecs/airlink suff????

I just hope one of these job possibilities comes through so I can partake in BF this year. I'm generally not one to stand in BB lines for 16 hours or more etc but I do like to swoop in on some particular deals, like re-uping my DVD/CD blank stashes, maybe go after one sale item that I want, etc. If no one objects I like the "best BF buys" theme so far until we get some real content, for me it was definitely last year's 350 dollar hp/compaq laptop at BB (which my dad bought for me a week after BF, apparently it got lost in the shuffle and they never changed the price after BF, people on SD started noticing them appearing at stores after BF and I managed to find one in stock)

Original movie was 1977... not 1978. And "Destroyed" implies intent.

"RUINED" is the word you're looking for.

From IMDB:

Over 60% of this film was shot with a film that was so prone to fading, it was discontinued in the early '80s.

No BF deals for me this year. I'll be happy to keep the lights on so I can run what I already have. I used to get all excited when Newegg had new deal emails. Now I just delete 'em unread

Maybe next year or the year after :-/

I still mainly want things that are seldom in any BF sales such as a dual socket workstation with a pair of i7 or i9 processors and plenty of 16x PCIe slots for CUDA cards to run full bandwidth in :D

Newegg deal emails aren't very good deals these days anyway. Every once in a while there is actually a good deal, the other times it's basically just free shipping which they used to always have when they first started. :/

Agreed, anytime they have a great deal its sold out in a few hours.
