windows 7 build 7100, parts in my sig

I have no clue what is causing it. It has been happening for about a week now and i have been trying to pinpoint what is causing it but couldn't figure anything out. One observation i made is that they happen more often after the first one.
So for example, if i come from school and turn on my computer, i probably won't get it for an hour or so but after that first one, they occur more frequently than ~one per hour.

I tried booting into safe mode, still got it. Safe mode with networking..still got it.

I tried updating windows and after it asks you to restart, it installs updates. It even happened then.

I'm starting to think it's hardware related (ram specifically -> intuitive/gut feeling) but of course no solid evidence...
It could also be overheating (due to the fact that frequency increases the longer machine has been running..) but my room is quite cool and i live in canada..

what tests should i run?
something that i can test the ram and can be run from a usb drive..?
What programs to check temps?

I'm sorry i haven't been following the computer hardware/software lately so that's why i ask for programs and I'm kinda busy so i can't research myself.

thank you!

It might help us to know what the STOP error(s) in the BSODs were. If you didn't write them down or don't remember, they can be accessed via the Event Viewer logs (critical errors are in red).

Memtest86+ can be run from a USB drive. Burn the ISO to the drive using a program like ImgBurn, then set the flash drive as the first boot device.
What programs to check temps
Core Temp, Real Temp or HWMonitor.

Windows 7 is quite sensitive to unstable hardware.

Loosen your RAM timings and up the vdimm a little and see what happens.

Fill out this BIOS template for the GA-965P-DS3 w/ all of your current settings (just disreard the settings in the template, and replace w/ your own)...

for the bold parts, they are either set to "auto" or i can't see them

due the fact that i havent changed anything in the bios in over a year and because i have been using this machine on a dialy basis with no problems untill last week, i don't think the settings in the bios have anything to do with the problem

Ram is always my first suspect now. I've had 6 sticks fail in the last year, corsair and ballistics. RMA it.

What make of ram is it?

its like 2 years old and, i dont have receipts, i bought it from friend who i am not in contact with anymore and he bought it from a american store (im in canada)..i dont think i can rma it lol

so the question now is..which of the following should i get:

http://pccyber.com/?v=product&i=RAM-TWIN2X2048-6400C4
or
http://pccyber.com/?v=product&i=RAM-PT-PVS22G8500ELKN

they have a local store close to my house and i can't wait too long for shipping; i need my computer back up asap

thank you all for your input so far :D

Um....did you try using 1 stick at a time? If it is the culprit, your computer would still run.

I took out the second stick and ran memtest86+, passed twice without any errors so I'll be using this for now until i can find a good deal on a nice kit.

thanks a lot to everyone for your help!
