ok..I just bought a Dremel w/flexishaft (great deal too!! 49.99!..sears). So I think its time for me to add a window to my Antec 1040b case...question is, what type of bit should I use to cut the Plexi with, and what bit should i use to cut the Case Side with...As Antec Case owners know...the metal is thick. Or should I invest in a pair of Nibblers to cut out the window??..I really dont want to mess my case up...i do have a few extra cases here to practise on...any advice would be greatly appreciated..

dont use a bit to cut the plexi I used a jig saw and it was awesome...Dont do the score and break thing...it sucks.
Dremel makes cutting bits but I havent used many of them.
I used the reinforced cutoff wheels to cut the side of my case, but got ****ed and ended up usin a plasma cutter....lol

The Cut-off Wheels will cut plexi fairly easy... Jigsaws have a tendency to catch the plexi and break it(unless you have a good bench and saw).
To cut the case you need to get fiber reinforced cut-off discs(catalog #426)... they will cut through case easily.

cool...thanx for the info...I only have 5 of those reinforced wheels that came with the dremel...When I think Ive practised enough..I'll start cutting my own case..and I'll take pics and post em...

Jeniva, are you making straight or curved cuts? I will cut it for you on the table saw and you can trim the round edges yourself. Table saw is the S***.

its gonna be a square window...if you look at my latest Fan Mod addition in the thread "Needed more airflow!" in this forum, you'll see i dont have tons of room for a crazy window...but i do want a square'ish one...thanx for the offer!!..I'll have to take you up on that one!

Those reinforced cut off wheels burn up quick!!!
Is there something more reliable and stronger for metal for the dremel then these, cause they arent the cheapest things.

As for cutting glass, i used a glass cutter, scored it and snapped it.

i used a jigsaw to cut another piece, but found out quick that you need to have a stable surface if not the fiberglass wants to catch and snap

i just got my dremel yesterday
its an ok tool

Are u using the Dremel bits correctly? Little cuts at a time? I only used 2 reinforced bits for my window and it is 11"x8" I also used 1 heavy duty cut off wheel to trim the curves

I only used a couple on my window, and it's also a large window. They do make a really nice cutting attachment... I think it even has diamond in the blade, but I heard it is rather expensive. There is a complete tool list at Dremel.com

I havent done much case modding, but ive used a dremel alot and found that if you break discs alot you can double them up and make for a stronger wheel . Just thought it might help. I found myself being to impatient and rushing the job and breaking discs. That is very dangerous as most of you brobably know. lol good luck with your mod. They should have wiating periods for dremels. how many more must die

I used 3 of the reinforced wheels on my 8x11 window. I am planning on getting the 1030B and putting in a big window. My use a jigsaw next time. Those wheels are $16 for 12 at my local Home Depot.
