It will have 512 shader pipelines . Pretty much double of the 2xx series.

It will be single slot I believe
It's on 40nm fabrication. 2GB RAM it will have also.

nvidia is lagging

Uhh.. This info has been posted countless times. Why bother with a new thread?

edit: Single slot? What in the world gives you that idea????

Single slot? Doubtful for their high end.

How are they lagging? What information are you basing your opinion off of?

Links please.............:)

You might think differently when Fermi becomes the top general purpose compute accelerator and is present in nearly every top supercomputer in the next 24 months.

The GPU is about more than gaming now.

Which makes you wonder, unless they change it to "General Processing Unit" why are we still calling it a GPU?

I fail to see how double the shaders of the gt200 plus new improved cores is lagging, personally.
That's exactly what ATI did, why not nvidia too?

Oh snap.

Guess i'll never be as famous as Charlie and Fud.

I expect that the 8xxx series and GT600's will still be direct descendants of the current crop, each generation gets a minor core change, nothing serious though because a complete redesign takes years (which is officially too long, gotta hit every black monday and christmas! Nvidia is looking like they're going to fail on that one, and it'll cost them) and costs a ton of money.
A minor(ish) mod+more cores is much cheaper and easier, and of course faster.

Nvidia did a decently large mod for the GT200's, but it's still closely related to the 9xxx's, which are essentially rebadged 8xxx's.
ATI's been using the same basic concept since the X1900, it's not like they're doing anything different. The only real difference between the two is that ATI hasn't been doing much (any?) rebadging lately. While the 3870 shares many things with the 4670 (320 cores, to be really specific) they're 4xxx cores instead of 3xxx cores.
Whether or not rebadging is a Bad Thing is up to you. I'm not a real big fan, personally.
If it's very obvious that it's not the current generation (more obvious then GTS vs GTX) then i don't really care.
If it's hard to tell (the 8800 to 9800 is a good example) then i don't like it.

That should be enough fuel thrown on the fire to keep this thread going :p

It should be noted that i'm not anti-nvidia, despite what i see as dubious practices. I'd like to get my hands on an nvidia card in fact, as my 4830 doesn't fold for beans on the GPU2 core, or at all in linux.

I dont even waste my time folding on ATi cards..

yea, seems that both companies did just about the same thing this time around. I just have my feet kicked up until the dust settles in january to see what I will upgrade to.

More than double. This stuff has all been posted in other threads, we're basically just waiting for the release now. Tweakboy has been posting stuff like this seemingly at random, probably just trying to bump his post count.

I've been waiting for him to tell someone to max out their NB and PLL volts again.

Geez, I thought you were kidding but I just searched it.
