I tried installing ffdshow like I always did (all at default) but I get "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the filetype or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file"

Preview icon works great (file in the folder itself) but double clicking gives me this message :(
I don't want to install any codec packs as I had hell of a problem with them before. I tried forcing ffdshow to decode with wmplayer.exe in options but nothing happens.

It is fresh install of Win7 -64bit
Any ideas folks?

*edit*
it is the same with mp3 files. They wont open with mplayer just noticed that
