Hey Everyone,

I'm looking for some recommendations on some good memory to use with this motherboard to achieve some great overclocking..

I'm looking to get minimum of 4ghz out of this setup on w/c

I've been told that gskill ram is excellent to use.. however i'm not sure which specific model is best to purchase

I have access to these 2 local retails for memory or i'll order from ebay..

www.canadacomputers.com

www.tigerdirect.ca

i'm also open to other brand as long as it can preform great!

thanks!

Well, I think you're going to have a difficult time reaching 4Ghz with a Q6600. I think a more modest goal would be 3.6Ghz.

If you absolutely want to go for 4Ghz though, you'll need RAM that is quick enough. The multiplier on a Q6600 is 9x. To hit 4Ghz, you'll need a FSB of ~445Mhz. Without having to OC the RAM as well, you'll need RAM that is DDR2-1066 at least. If you went with 3.6Ghz for your goal, you could get DDR2-800. Although, any quality DDR2-800 could reach 445Mhz without breaking a sweat. You just want to take out as many variables as you can trying to get to 4Ghz which again, is a very tall task on normal air cooling.

Either of these will do you just fine:

Only difference is size, 1GB vs 2GB, which you didn't specify.

Good luck!

Don't you think you're setting your goals a little too high? 3.6GHz and higher is pretty much luck of the draw...4GHz should be the maximum, not minimum. I just don't want you to be disappointed if you can't get 4GHz outta that chip.

As for the RAM I have the 2x2GB G.SKills that Maverick linked. I haven't had any problems with mine, they're a solid choice.

Wow, discourage the guy why don't you.

Go for 4ghz. G0 Q6600 on P45 it should be definitely doable with good cooling. I'd say go for 500fsb with an 8x multi to set the RAM right at 1000mhz. If you can get some nice 4-4-4-x timings, you're golden.

I've heard the new Corsair low voltage stuff is pretty good, but don't quote me.

If you get something that's already rated for 1000mhz, you're good to go. Get whatever has a good warranty and matches the rest of your setup.

For the price, I'd go with these -
G.Skill Pi Black PC8500 2x2gb - http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=023350&cid=RAM.346.754 (already posted above)

Do you want a 2x1gb (2gb) kit or a 2x2gb (4gb) kit?

Gskill all the way! i got 1066 ram even though my board supports 800, just so i could hit 4.5ghz on my dual. Gskill works great.

I've had a set of http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-793-_-Product for a while now and have been really pleased with the preformance. 4-4-4-12 stock timing and 2.2v capable make them very nice to oc with. Im sure the 1066 version will be just as nice, plus the ascent heatsink's makes them run cool and look cool aswell.

Best damn memory ever made coupled with the best warranty support I've ever revived in 9+ years from a manufacture MUSHKIN!!!!

Take your pick.

Yeah the memory heat spreader aren't all pretty but pretty won't keep your memory cool.
