but I am trying to determine if I have any signal loss; crosstalk; interferance....etc

Some MoBo's also have built in LAN cable testing (in the BIOS). They can detect shorts, open connections, and crossed wires, and even approximate the distance from PC NIC to the problematic portion of the cable!

you know.... Now that I think about it, My wifes rig (Asus A8N5X) can do that.... thanks for reminding me....
